Exemptions from semester exams is a privilege and not a right. Exemptions are a reward for having great attendance and appropriate grades. Following is the exemption policy:
• Freshmen (9th) and Sophomores (10th) may be exempt from any 3 exams with a semester average of 85 and above with no more than 2 absences.
• Junior (11th) and Senior (12th) exemptions: All Classes
o Maintained a 95 with no more than 4 absences.
o Maintained a 90 with no more than 3 absences.
o Maintained an 85 with no more than 2 absences.
o Maintained an 80 with no more than 1 absence.
• Absences are counted by period. It is possible to be exempt from some exams and not others.
• Students must report to their 1st or 2nd period class (whichever is given that day) to be counted present for the day. Roll check will be taken and complete by 8:00 am. If a student is exempt, they may be released by the teacher after that time. We will not have a sign in sheet in the office. All attendance will be recorded by the classroom teacher VIA computer roll check. Any exempt student who does not show up, will be counted absent and may lose their exemption (they will be called to come up and take exams or receive a zero).
• Students who take exams will be required to stay in class during the entire exam period.
• The buses will run as usual except on the days of early dismissal.
• No exemptions for students having served in AEP or ISS.
• Any student who is absent from an exam will receive a zero.
• Exemption sheets will be given to the students prior to exams and should be filled in as they go to their classes on that day. All forms must be turned in by the end of the day. No Form No Exemption. Teachers will be notified of non-exemptions.
Extenuating circumstances will be considered by the principal and /or assistant principal.
